Pop of Pink + Sue Licorice

Monday, April 27, 2015

My birthday was two days ago so before going to Universal Studios I went to celebrate with my parents.  Growing up the ‘din’ was always the "fancy room" of the house where we weren’t able to crawl all over the furniture.  I think it’s my favorite room at my parent’s house since I was never allowed in it as a kid.  Not to mention, I absolutely love this couch and it’s fantastic  pink floral print.  My mom is really who inspired me to love vintage, and I love looking at all of the things that she has collected over the years.  Her lady head vases are always my favorite.

The other day I was talking to Amanda about different prints and patterns, and we officially decided that in our world gingham is a solid. There is just something about it, and I cannot turn down a good gingham piece.  The Sue Licorice dress by House of Dots exemplifies everything I love in a good dress.  It has an amazing print, something cinched at the waist and pockets.  Plus, it’s lined and it still manages to be super comfortable.  It's also light-weight so it's perfect for Georgia's hot and humid environment.

Do you have any gingham pieces? If so, tell me about them!
(because we'll probably want all of them)

  1. LOVE this dress on you! I always think you look so great in black + white, and the pops of pink do make you look like a little Good 'n Plenty (my favorite). I hope your birthday was as perfect as you are!

  6. I think the B&W nature of the gingham helps make it read like a neutral. Even in brighter colors, gingham is an easy print that mixes with others well and always seems pretty classic and timeless.

I mentioned my love of polka dots with you in another post, but Gingham is a close second. I actually own one navy gingham wiggle style dress, but I have a lot more on several wishlists. I love the way you paired your black gingham dress with pink! So cute! Happy belated birthday! <3

  10. I agreed, Kristian. I think the fact that it is so timeless is why I love it. It's one of those prints that I know I will never get sick of. I have days where I may not be feeling polka dots, but I'll always want to wear gingham.

hehehe I USED to, but I'm working on my fitness and hope that it fits again this Summer. ;) I didn't think to pair it with red, but you're so right! That's a great combo. Thanks for the additional inspiration. Hugs! <3

  16. Gingham is definitely a solid. I have about six or seven red/white gingham pieces and frankly, I do not care that I always look like I am going to a picnic, or like I am a picnic tablecloth. I have the CUTEST gingham skirt that has ANTS silk screened on it by Stella Neptune! Also, bandana is a solid. Truth.

  18. Happy belated birthday! I turned 26 yesterday, we are almost birthday twins! I agree though that this is so neutral it does pretty much classify it as a solid! I didn't even realize that Amanda's post from today is the same dress just in different fabric. It's great to find a piece you can dress up so many different ways with different colors.
