Okay, so we know what you're probably thinking, "It's not summer" and you're right.  However, after we both picked classic summer prints from Trashy Diva, and we couldn't help but think that these dresses deserved a post of their own and that they sum up southern summers extremely well (the only thing missing is gingham).  Also, we wanted to cheat the system before the humidity gets so bad down here that our hair doesn't stand a chance and everything starts turning brown and sad. haha.

Katie's family is from Louisiana so she loves a good Fleur de Lis print and when Trashy Diva marked down the Grand Fleur Collection, we both snatched a piece for our closets (under $50 y'all).  NOLA also happens to be in the top 3 places we want to visit together because yes, we have a list ; )  The Annette Mini dress style has  quickly become a favorite for both of us because of the shorter length, full skirt and pockets and we hope TD includes them in future print runs, we highly recommend it.

As for seersucker, on warmer days you'll see it running rampant down here on just about anything you can make out of seersucker fabric. Seriously, even the male attorneys in Middle Tennessee frequently wear it to court (proof) which is sort of hilarious and very Atticus Finch all at the same time.  The Apple Tart Dress with it's ruffly bust paired perfectly with this vintage gardening hat and I was excited to find an excuse to wear it.  What are your favorite prints and styles for summer?

Amanda: Custom Circle Skirt in this fabric c/o Mokkafiveoclock  |  Red Boater Hat - Palace Vintage

Katie:  Purple Floral Skirt c/o Mokkafiveoclock | Blue Boatneck Top - Target
Confetti Lucite Brooch - Luxulite | Taupe Heels - Modcloth

For those who celebrate, we hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday!  We both spent some much needed time with our families stuffing ourselves with so much good, southern food.  Honestly, we probably need a day to recover from all of the carbs that we ate, but it was well worth it.  These colorful, floral circle skirts from Mokkafiveoclock weren't our Easter outfits, but looking back at them, they would've been the perfect florals for the day! When it comes to our personal styles, we've both been branching out so much lately, and we're having a lot of fun trying new styles and designs.  That being said, we always seem to come back to our roots, which generally consists of a nice, floral circle skirt.

Mokkafiveoclock creates beautiful vintage-inspired skirts and dresses that are perfect for daily wear or special occasions.  We both picked floral fabrics, but she offers solids and other patterns as well.  Our skirts were also lined (which we don't see much) and it was great to have that built-in slip with lighter colored fabrics. But, the best part?  Every dress is made to measure to ensure that the fit is spot-on.  As you all know, there's nothing quite like a bespoke skirt or dress fit just to your measurements!  We sent off our measurements, and the skirts fit perfectly.

Bernadette Dress c/o Tatyana | Carved Wine Hoop Earrings c/o Splendette
Black Wedges - Similar | Rago Waist Cincher - Amazon

Have you ever seen something online and then when you put it on it looked nothing like you expected?  I know that is how a lot of online shopping goes, and I don't think I've ever really had a moment like that until I put on the Bernadette Dress by Tatyana.  I feel in love with this dress online, and it looked like such a fun take on a classic shift dress.  I ordered my normal sizing knowing that Tatyana usually runs a tad big and that the material would be stretchy, but what I didn't take into account was just how unforgiving it would be.

This dress shows every curve, lump and bump on my body, and at first that really freaked me out.  Initially I felt really down on myself, and felt super insecure.  After sulking for a while, I realized that this is my body and although this dress didn't fit the way I intended it was still something I wanted to wear.  So I sucked it up, ate some ice cream and then I put on my favorite shapewear, my rago waist cincher, and felt so much better about the way this dress looked on me.  This shapewear takes off about 2 inches from my hips, which can make such a big difference!  It still shows all of my lumps and bumps, but a little more smoothed out so that it isn't taking away from the beauty that is this dress.  The details of this dress are really what should shine--I mean, that bodice is freakin' outstanding.  Plus, I loved that I could wear it to the office on casual Friday and then head and grab some sangria afterwards and not have to change.  That's a win in my book.

The Spencer Wide Brimmed Hat - Lack of Color  |  Hansel Heels - BAIT Footwear (similar)

Katie:  Queen of Hearts Silk Scarf c/o Kitschy Witch Jewelry | Heart Brooch - Match Accessories

If you saw Monday's post then you have been formally introduced to the rabbit hole of awesome that is Kitschy Witch Jewelry.  Not only does Stephanie make badass brooches, she also creates beautiful printed silk scarves.  Both of us being bibliophiles, we opted for the Queen of Hearts Silk Scarf, but we both absolutely love the Fortune Teller Silk Scarf and can't see what new scarves she has on the way.  If you're looking to buy one of the sold out Pinup Girl Clothing Queen of Hearts Print items (the print was designed by Stephanie), this is perfect fix and would look adorable with the Sabrina Top and Cigarette Pants in black as an accent piece.

Also, if square scarves aren't your thing she has stoked a rockets/space themed longer scarf that looks like it would be SO much fun to style and play around with. Scarves are one of our favorite warm weather accessories because of their versatility, I can't wait to tote this one around, especially for hair emergencies.  And because they're silk, they also happen to be the perfect scarf for setting your pincurls or wet sets at night to reduce frizz.

Even if you didn't know it before, you are probably familiar with Stephanie Buscema's art and designs.  Stephanie has designed multiple prints for Pinup Girl Clothing including the Queen of Hearts print, Mermaid Border print and a handful of others.  On top of being amazing when it comes to designing clothing prints, Stephanie also creates whimsical, unique vintage-inspired jewelry.  She puts her own spin on old designs and even incorporates vintage materials on occasion, which truly sets her jewelry apart from the rest.  We can't get over the craftsmanship and time that clearly goes into these pieces from start to finish.  The added details on both of these brooches is intense!  From the amazing paint job, jewels and even a vintage charm on the Venus Legs Brooch--these pieces have it all.

We noticed that when we wore these brooches they were the constant topic of so many conversations and compliments since they're such bold 1940's inspired pieces.  We think these brooches are 100% statement pieces, and we loved pairing them with more simplistic outfits so they could really shine on their own.  Not only are Stephanie's pieces clever and creative we loved how many had vintage horror or oddity roots.  Since we both are always interested in things that are a bit unusual we appreciate when those interests + vintage collide.  The Hand of Destiny series is a perfect example of that, and we are both obsessed with the Monster Mash Brooch that has vintage 1960's monster charms.

Update/Edit: I've had several ladies ask me about a review for the Funny Face Pants since this post was published so here are my thoughts.  I typically wear an XS in Pinup Girl Clothing and that is what I ordered in these pants.  For the record, the Eva Pants and the Funny Face pants are the exact same pants but the Funny Face Pants are cropped and the Eva Pants are a full length pant.  I did have to roll the pants under to make them appear cropped on my petite frame - I'm 4'10".  They're in my "take to seamstress" pile currently.  As for sizing, I'd recommend sizing down as they're a stretch ponte.  By the end of the day, they'd grown a bit and I was having trouble keeping them up, so I had to wear a belt. If I could've sized down, I would've.  They're the most comfortable pants I own and now I'm in love with them.
